About the Barkly Regional Deal
The Barkly Regional Deal (the Deal), the first regional deal in Australia, is underpinned by a statement of intent signed by the Commonwealth, the Northern Territory Government and the Barkly Regional Council, with an investment of $100.5 million. The Deal was instigated in 2019, through community action to address the long-standing inequities and related economic and social issues in Barkly communities.
The Deal, now in the 6th year of operation, is a ten-year commitment to 28 initiatives to be delivered in the Barkly. It is also a commitment from the government partners to a new way of working with the community based on a shared vision and agreed priorities and principles.
About the Opportunity
As the Measuring Change & Evaluation Project Worker you will lead the evaluation of the Barkly Regional Deal (BRD) and support program evaluations across Anglicare NT services.
Based in Darwin, with regular travel to the Barkly region, this role works closely with the BRD Backbone team, Governance Table, Aboriginal Community Researchers, and internal stakeholders. You’ll champion culturally grounded approaches to evaluation and contribute to long‑term positive change for communities.
In this exciting role you will:
- Support skill development, co‑design data collection tools, and guide the team using a Middle Space UMEL approach.
- Embed evaluation practices across projects, contribute to the Measuring Change Working Group, provide regular updates to stakeholders, and support data sovereignty and data‑sharing processes.
- Work with program teams to design and conduct culturally informed evaluations, develop data tools, analyse findings, and present clear, accessible reports.
About You
You are a collaborative evaluator who values community‑led approaches and has a strong understanding of working in remote Aboriginal contexts. You can mentor others, design robust evaluation frameworks, and communicate insights with clarity and respect.
You will bring:
- A relevant Tertiary qualification in Research & Evaluation or related field
- Demonstrated experience co designing, developing and implementing research and evaluation frameworks for collective impact, systems change initiatives
- Demonstrated ability and experience developing, supervising and mentoring a team of Aboriginal staff
- Demonstrated ability and experience communicating research and evaluation findings to a range of audiences
- Proven experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, staff and Aboriginal Controlled Organisations.
