About the Opportunity

As Child & Family Counsellor, you will deliver culturally responsive counselling, group programs and therapeutic interventions for individuals, couples, families and children. You will also play a key role in supporting young people aged 10–25 who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness through evidencebased groupwork, skillbuilding and community connection.

In this diverse and rewarding role, you will:

  • Provide assessment, counselling, safety planning, information and referrals using traumainformed and strengthsbased frameworks.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate group programs for young people.
  • Work collaboratively with local services and specialist supports to build safe, holistic networks around clients.
  • Engage with the community to promote Resolve services and raise awareness of counselling and support pathways.
  • Maintain highquality case notes, reporting and documentation.
  • Uphold Anglicare NT’s values of cultural safety, child safety, social justice and inclusive practice.

About You

You’re a capable and compassionate practitioner with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or a related field, with eligibility for relevant professional registration.
  • Counselling experience working with individuals, couples, families and children.
  • Willingness to undertake training in specialist areas such as a Child Consultant for child inclusive practice within family dispute resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of evidencebased therapeutic approaches (e.g., traumainformed practice, CBT, narrative therapy, play therapy).
  • Ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, valuing cultural knowledge and lived experience.
  • Confident group facilitation and communication skills.
  • A genuine desire to support children, young people and families to feel safe, empowered and connected.
