About the Opportunity
In this role, you’ll provide trauma‑informed, culturally safe, and youth‑focused support to young people and their families across the ReConnect and #U‑Turn programs. You’ll build strong, respectful relationships, deliver group programs that support life skills and positive decision‑making, and help young people stay connected to culture, community, and family. Your work will also include supporting young people involved in youth justice, contributing to safety and risk assessments, participating in school holiday programs, and helping create opportunities that promote participation, empowerment, and confidence.
What We’re Looking For
We’re searching for someone who brings a mix of heart, resilience, cultural respect, and practical experience.
The right person will:
Have experience working with young people and families
You understand the challenges young people face and have at least two years’ experience supporting them in community settings. You can build trust, show empathy, and create safe environments for young people to grow and thrive.
Be confident engaging young people who may have experienced trauma
You know how to connect with young people using assertive outreach and strengths‑based, trauma‑informed approaches. You’re steady under pressure and able to respond calmly and appropriately during crisis situations.
Show cultural understanding and respect
This role requires deep cultural awareness and the ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, families, and communities. Local cultural knowledge or language skills are highly valued.
Communicate well and work collaboratively
You’re able to communicate clearly with young people, families, community organisations, and other service providers. You enjoy working as part of a team but can also operate independently, prioritising tasks and managing competing demands.
Be organised, reliable, and committed to quality practice
You’re comfortable with documentation, case notes, data entry and using ICT systems. You take pride in good record‑keeping and following policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
Embrace our values
