About the Opportunity
Note: This is a (full time) contracted position till 18 November 2027.
As Senior Manager Family Services you will lead a diverse portfolio of programs across the Greater Darwin Region. This senior leadership role oversees Financial Wellbeing Services, the Child and Family Contact Service, Refugee and Migrant Support Services, Adult Homelessness and Transitional Accommodation, and the Palmerston Community Services Hub.
Reporting to the Director Youth & Family Services, you will provide strong operational leadership, support high-performing teams, drive quality and continuous improvement, and ensure services are culturally safe, trauma-informed, inclusive and person-centred. You will play a key role in strengthening service delivery, building effective partnerships, monitoring performance and supporting positive outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
About You
We are looking for a dynamic leader with strong experience in community services, people management, stakeholder engagement, service development, data-informed reporting and quality practice. This role is ideal for someone who brings sound judgement, empathy, resilience and a commitment to social justice, cultural safety and meaningful community impact.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related discipline, with a minimum of six years’ experience leading programs and teams within a community sector organisation
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, including homelessness, child protection, and domestic and family violence, as well as experience delivering and overseeing a diverse range of services such as financial counselling and refugee and migrant settlement services
- Proven ability to lead and develop person-centred services that achieve high-quality outcomes for individuals, families, and significant others in a community services environment.
- Highly developed leadership and management capabilities, with a strong track record of achieving outcomes within multidisciplinary teams, driving innovation, and managing organisational change
- A commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse communities.
