About the Opportunity
In this rewarding role, you will provide counselling and therapeutic support to individuals, couples, families, children and young people, helping build resilience, strengthen relationships and improve wellbeing through evidence-based and trauma-informed practice.
As Child & Family Counsellor, you will:
- Deliver counselling services to children, young people, individuals, couples and families.
- Undertake assessments, safety planning and risk management.
- Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational group programs.
- Support families through strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches.
- Build strong referral pathways and partnerships with community services.
- Deliver community education, outreach and capacity-building activities.
- Maintain accurate case notes and client records.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or a related social science discipline.
- Eligibility for membership or registration with a relevant professional body such as AASW, PACFA, ACA or AHPRA.
- Experience providing counselling to individuals, couples, families and/or children.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Strong assessment, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience facilitating groups or delivering community-based programs will be highly regarded
- A commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse communities.
