About the Position

You will provide professional, culturally sensitive and responsive direct support and group work assistance to young people across the Gove Peninsula who may be experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness and disengagement from family, education and community supports. Using a strengths-based and trauma informed framework, you will ensure the service is providing individual and family case support, conduct thorough case planning, provide information, referrals, advocacy and developmental group work which meets young people's needs, builds capacity of the target group and regional service system and raises community awareness about the nature, extent and appropriate responses to young people.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Minimum Certificate 3 or higher in Youth, Community or Human Services or willingness to obtain
  • Experience in assertive outreach and ability to effectively engage with young people with challenging and/or trauma related behaviours and their families
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and resilience and ability to work independently and multitask 
  • Knowledge of the youth justice, child protection system and local youth and family services
  • Innovative and unique skill sets will be considered favourably

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a current Northern Territory manual driver's licence.
