About the Opportunity

Provide support to parents to learn new skills and build confidence as their child’s first teacher. Work with parents to create an interest in their children’s learning, promoting cognitive and social development and enhance school readiness.

Promote family engagement with education and the community and implement the delivery of the HIPPY program in a culturally sensitive way that supports active participation.

HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is early childhood enrichment and parenting program for children and their parents/carers. The key objective of the HIPPY Home Tutor is to deliver the HIPPY program for up to 15 families in a supportive and positive way that promotes active participation and engagement

Position Specific Requirements

  • Interest and enthusiasm in supporting families to promote education through activities within their family unit.
  • Ability to relate to people from a range of cultural and language backgrounds from within the local community.
  • Basic literacy in English including reading, writing and numeracy.

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a current Northern Territory driver’s licence.
