About the Program

The SHAK offers a safe and inclusive space for young people aged 10-17 years to connect, have a hot meal and take part in a variety of activities. It is open after-school and on Saturdays, with extended hours and programming on school holidays.

About the Opportunity

Kickstart your career in Youth Work! Anglicare NT have an exciting opportunity for a trainee to join our SHAK team and gain valuable skills, knowledge, and qualifications within the community services sector!

You will deliver culturally safe and inclusive activities for young people 10-17 years old who are engaged with the SHAK Youth Centre. Under the guidance of the Team Leader and Program Manager, and in partnership with Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA) you will be supported to successfully complete a Certificate II, III, or IV in Youth Work, whilst undertaking the Youth Trainee role.

 

We will:

  • Pay you to study a nationally recognised and accredited certificate.
  • Provide paid on-the-job training.
  • Ensure you have individualised and culturally sensitive mentor support.

Our 12–18-month traineeships are ideally suited to people interested in securing a mentored and supported traineeship which can lead to a promising career. We are looking for motivated and compassionate people who are excited to learn and passionate about the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.
